Katrina Kaif to turn director?

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif now wants to turn director. And she's pulling out all the stops to make sure this dream comes true, including roping in her her Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara co-star, actor/director Farhan Akhtar, to teach her the tricks of the trade.

"Katrina has always been someone who's very eager to learn. In fact, I think we are all always learning in some way or the other. I don't really consider myself qualified enough to be a mentor, but yes I would love to help in whatever way I can," said Farhan.

The camaraderie between the actors is evident, and not just on screen. At Kat's request, Farhan is now letting her edit one of the sequences of his forthcoming film Don 2.

"She wants to learn about post-production, and I was more than happy to let her edit one of the scenes in Don 2. Of course, I also warned her that I won't promise to include that sequence in the film," he grins.

For over a year now the actress has been looking to broaden her horizons and look beyond the screen.

First, she wanted to turn producer by purchasing the rights of a French film, and now she wants to play the captain of the ship with a directorial debut. Clearly, a film like Zindagi... directed by a woman director has inspired her even more.

Katrina says, "This is my second film with a female director after Farah Khan, and I have to say Zoya comes with her own sensibilities. I don't know if it's just because she is a woman, but working with her was a once- in-a-lifetime experience."

I will get married in 2012 - Katrina

Call it an ultimatum or whatever but Katrina Kaif is certain she will get married in 2012. And since that’s just two years from now, she is all set to have the time of her life in films.

That also explains her choices, which currently consist of Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.

Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar and Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana 2, which should take care of this year.

It also means she has stopped looking for another home. “I’ll get married and go to my husband’s home,” she says fluttering her eyelashes.

“Why put in so much money into a new home when I have a perfectly comfortable one at the moment?”

Whether the 2012 groom will be Salman Khan or someone she still has to meet, or whether.

What ails Katrina Kaif?

According to reports, Katrina Kaif [ Images ] underwent surgery on Wednesday evening at Mumbai's [ Images ] Breach Candy hospital. She has been discharged today.

The actress has been suffering from a low haemoglobin count and was not keeping well for quite some time. Looks like the doctors have finally diagnosed what ails Katrina.

Salman Khan [ Images ] stayed with the actress throughout the surgery.

Katrina released an official statement saying her annual holiday to London [ Images ] for Christmas was on track. She will resume work when she recovers completely.

Katrina fights loneliness pangs

After a spate of hits, Katrina Kaif may be riding high on her career front but that is in no way a compensation for leading a lonely life without family in Mumbai. Considering that the Mumbai film industry can get awfully cold for an out-of-town girl and the constant work-related travel in recent times, Katrina had begun to feel the absence of a strong support system in Mumbai.

Living alone also took its toll on her health when last month the actress was diagnosed with jaundice and a low hemoglobin count. A close friend of the actress said, “To be alone in Mumbai where no one asks about your health seriously and neighbours don’t even know your name, is bad enough. But for a celebrity like Katrina it’s even worse. People around her presumed she wanted to be left alone when in fact she needed comfort and company during her illness.”

That’s when Katrina made up her mind to call her mother Suzanne Turquotte to Mumbai to be with her. “It wasn’t an overnight decision. She didn’t want to pull her mother away from her social work in Chennai, but being alone was getting to Katrina. Being successful is fine but unlike other actresses her age, she had no one to return home to,” added the friend.
Earlier this week, Katrina’s mom joined the actress in Mumbai. The change in her mood, attitude and lifestyle was almost immediate. She’s now eating well and runs off to work every morning knowing someone is waiting for her back home. “Yeah, my mom is with me,” said Katrina happily from the Mumbai airport yesterday morning before she headed to Dubai for a brief appearance at a live performance. “If I feel strong enough to make this trip, it’s because my mother is at home. I know I have her to go back to. I admit it can get terribly lonely in Mumbai.”

Katrina's image change creates problems for Rajneeti

On the sets of Rajneeti , Prakash Jha has had to deal with much more than temper tantrums. It took Jha a lot of time to explain the concept of continuity to the film’s lead actress Katrina Kaif.

It is said that Katrina’s role is fashioned after Sonia Gandhi. Thus, a lot of effort and styling has gone into deglamourising the usually sensual actress. She has to maintain a sari-clad look sans make up, which is far from the way she has been portrayed in her past films.

Our source said, “Katrina did not seem to understand the importance of continuity. Every other day, she would turn up on the sets looking completely different. Often, Jha would be surprised to see Katrina looking like a different person altogether. He had to summon her make-up man to get her look redone; to make it match the look in the last scene on the previous day.”

The funny bit is the fact that Katrina never seemed to realize this. She would simply say, “ Main to waisi hi lag rahi hoon, different nahin .”

Naturally, a lot of time was wasted while the make-up man worked on Katrina’s look. Jha denied the story saying, “What rubbish! Katrina’s character undergoes a metamorphosis in the film but I never had a continuity problem with her and didn’t lose any time either. She was perfect.”

Katrina, of course, echoed Prakash Jha’s statement.

Katrina Kaif isn’t very pleased about the way media goes in overdrive to hyperbolize her encounters with Shahrukh Khan. The pretty belle frequently finds herself in the middle of B-Town gossips ever since her beau Salman Khan and SRK fought at her birthday party last year. Whenever she bumps into Shahrukh at a film event or a party, her loyalty to Salman is questioned. This has miffed Katrina, who thinks her meetings with SRK are overblown.

Katrina to auction her clothes, personal belongings

Here is good news for Katrina Kaif die-hard fans. You can own her clothes and accessories, as she is planning to auction them to support her mother Susanna’s orphanage, Mercy Home in Chennai.

Yes you heard it right. Katrina confirmed that she is going help her mother to raise Rs.50 lakhs. For this, she is going to auction some of her film costumes, accessories and her personal belongings to help her mother set up a prenatal care centre.


Katrina said that the idea behind the auctioning of her belongings is to create awareness and motivate the public to come forward and help the cause. Mercy Home is very close to Katrina's heart, and hence she is doing all she could to bring about awareness.

BANGALORE, INDIA: Katrina Kaif recently became one of the popular and most searched personality over the web in India. Of course, the never-ending media gossip that she had parted ways with Salman Khan, and is getting closer to John Abraham, makes her an even 'hotter' search object.

And this Web trafficking over the Bollywood dame has served as an opportunity for the criminal minds to lay their hands upon.

According to the 'The Web's Most Dangerous Search Terms' report released by McAfee on Wednesday, the popular Bollywood actress is one of the most dangerous online search word in India.

With the maximum risk percentage of 28.6, Katrina ranks second after 'Waptrick,' a website for free downloads of music, ring tones, wall paper, animations and logos for mobile phones.

The other popular key words posing higher risk rate in India also include Orkut, Yahoomail, Shahid Kapur, Rediffmail, 'How to earn money', Namitha, Shimla and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

"Hackers are most successful when they can attract a large number of victims. One way to target big crowds online is to track current events - everything from celebrity meltdowns and natural disasters to holidays and popular music. One key tool cybercriminals use to snare victims is to get them to download a computer file or program that comes with a malicious payload," said the report.

The study conducted by Shane Keats, research analyst, McAfee, Inc. and Eipe Koshy, software development engineer, McAfee, Inc researched more than 2,600 popular keywords to assess the degree of risk for each.

The study confirms that scammers consider popular trends when deciding which victims to target.

This makes common sense. If hackers are now motivated largely by profit, the biggest profits can be wrung from the largest pools of potential victims. And on the web, popular trends and visitor traffic are highly correlated.

The best protection is to install a computer security suite and keep it up to date and to use a safe search tool, concluded the report.
